History:
Joaquín González, graduated of Fine Arts at the University of San Alejandro. González studied industrial design specializing in graphic design in La Habana. In the 80's he works at the engraving Studio Cabeza in Madrid with the lithographer Don Herber and Antonio Gallo, later on he studies in the studio of Oscar Manéis and Dan Albert Benveniste. In 1999 he creates his own engraving Studio Ediciones Malgón in Miami where he continues working in his art and at the same time creating editions for other artists.
Ediciones Malgon is an indipendent print workshop that specializes in traditional fine art printing techniques. Founded in 1999 by Joaquin Gonzalez, Ediciones Malgon publishes and produces original etchings, monotypes, and relief prints, in collaboration with contemporary artists and print publishers. Located in the Bird Road Art District in Miami, Florida, the studio is equipped to produce large scale editions, while providing a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where artists work with an attentive, professional and master printer.
Ediciones Malgon has collaborated with eminent publishers, Museums, galleries and world renown artist to produce some of most exquisite contemporary works on paper available today.
Joaquin and his staff host workshops at the studio throughout the years. Artists work with a professional printer to create original works on paper. Artists are supported in their exploration with the prospects of opening up new artistic possibilities. The shop welcomes newcomers to the medium as well as veteran printmakers.
